I love quilting, sewing, and bag making.
I’ve always been a sewist. My grandmother taught me when I was a young girl, and I grew up sewing clothes and home decor items for fun. Though I was aware of quilting, I didn’t try it for many years – it seemed so complicated! How on earth did quilters get the stuffing stuff inside, with all that stitching on the outside??? This was before the days of social media or YouTube, and I just had no idea how to even learn to quilt.
It wasn’t until my son was born that I thought about quilting again. My sweet mother-in-law made him a baby quilt, and it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen – bright colors, happy fish, interesting piecing! I was obsessed with that quilt! My MIL was the first quilter I’d ever known, and she was the one who told me about this magical place called a Local Quilt Shop (LQS), and that I could take quilting classes there! So I hopped on over to the nearest one, signed up for a beginner quilting class, and I’ve been absolutely HOOKED ever since!
15 years later, I firmly believe that ANYONE can learn to quilt – it’s not that complicated, honest! – and that sewing and quilting are for EVERYONE! I’d love for your to join me on my stitchy adventures!
